I grew up watching “You’ve Got Mail” with my mom so I know the warm fuzzy feeling Liz felt. The prologue!! I loved the background on Liz watching rom-coms with her mom as a child. (If not, what are you still doing here!?! Go read BTTM and come back!) I’m assuming everyone who’s still here has read this book. You’ll swoon, you’ll get second-hand embarrassment, you’ll cry, and you’ll end up with very, VERY, unrealistic expectations for love. If you’re looking for a cutesy, romantic, cliche (in the best way) story, READ THIS BOOK. It’s about the journey, not the destination, when you’re reading/watching a romance.

I love Hallmark movies and rom-coms, and yes they all end the same way, but I love that. (Lynn Painter if you’re reading this I’m BEGGING for a sequel to BTTM) So the only thing I didn’t like is that there’s no sequel. I went through the rest of the book CONVINCED that a sequel existed, then I tried to order it and found out it doesn’t exist. While I was reading this book, I had a dream that there was a sequel.That’s exactly what this book was! Nothing uncomfortable, just adorable. I love a good romance, but especially when it’s light and fluffy. Movie quotes at the beginning of chapters! I love little things like that authors do that are just a little unique, set the tone for the chapter, and keep the visuals engaging.(That’s all more-or-less on the blub btw.) But as she gets closer to Wes, she reexamines everything she thought she knew about a fairytale ending. But to get to him, she needs Wes Bennet’s help – and he’s always been a jerk to her. She’s been in love with this kid Michael forever, and she wants to go to prom with him. Okay, so what’s it about? So the protagonist is Liz Buxbaum, a teenage girl who’s obsessed with 90’s rom-coms. I’m gonna do a spoiler free review first, then there will be a spoiler warning for the rest of the review. It’s only been two months since I read this book and I’m already dying to read it again. BTTM had me sobbing in bed in the middle of the night. I was expecting to like this book, but I LOVED it.

Then I ended up forgetting about it because my TBR is a mile long, but eventually I came across a quote from it on Pinterest (btw, if you don’t already – go follow my pinterest) in summer and bought it ASAP. Since I don’t like hardcovers I decided to wait until it was available as a paperback to buy it. But I discovered that it was only available in hardcover at the time. Welcome to my book review of Better Than the Movies! I came across this book in March on Haley Pham’s Instagram ( I thought it looked cute, so I looked into it and it sounded ADORABLE.
